(Idea) Cuts are named after gem-cutting terms (Bevel, Crown, Table, Culet), as are most Facet spells (section 7).
(Idea) Facet spells: two words, a gem-cutting term then what it does: Facet Seal, Bevel Lash, Prism Snare, Crown Ward, Culet Spike.
What happens: The player reaches the edge. The Heart Pane is a flat mirror a few hundred metres across, with the sky above and the same sky below, and the player stands at its rim as if at the edge of the world. On the west rim the Evane camp is pale stone banners and a circle of four standing stones: the chorus circle. On the east rim, the Facets' lantern line and the Culet cut's glass picks. Aske has already lit a fire on the south rim, between the two, and put four stools round it. "Anyone sits. That's the rule."

Who: Iver Kest, "the Cutter"; Rook; the Culet cut (Iver's cut; Culet is one of the Story Bible's cut names, section 2, and the culet is the bottom point of a gem, where a stone is cut last (Idea)); Lanternfall Facets who came to watch.

- Path
- Help Ondine
- Phase one: the mirrored chorus
- With it. Guard the chorus from the Culet cut (
pane_chorus_guard).- Phase two: the asymmetric shattering
- Against it. Stop Iver (
pane_shatter_stop).- Then
- Sing the last note (4.18).
Who: Ondine (conducting, not targetable in phase one); the four voices: Tamsin (Wardens), Mother Bramble (Tenders), Keeper Hale (Keepers), Choirmistress Wen (Still Choir), or a mender in any head's place who sits the finale out (section 12); on the Ondine path, Culet cutters.
From Walkthrough: Act 4 › Chapter E: The Finale on the Pane › Phase one: the mirrored chorus
With it (Ondine path): the player stands at the centre of the circle, inside the four stones. The chorus is an ally with its own HP bar; three Culet cutters come one after another and attack the chorus, not the player. The player kills the cutters and keeps the gauge below 0: every mirrored cast at 80% or better is also a note in the chorus. If the chorus's bar empties, the phase restarts.
From Walkthrough: Act 4 › Chapter E: The Finale on the Pane › Phase one: the mirrored chorus
Against it (Ondine and Stop-both paths): Iver fights with the Culet cut behind him. Every 5 s a cut pushes the gauge 12 towards Shattered and opens a crack under the player, which deals damage every second until a mirrored cast at 70% or better seals it, or a parallel cast pushes it off the Pane. Iver's own spells are Facet: Bevel Lash ignores shields, so Brace and Facet Seal don't stop it, but Drift dodges it. Every third attack he draws Crown Surge, paying in his own blood, and his next cut lands for 40: Hush silences him through it, or Prism Snare stops it. At half HP he pulls his sleeves back and the player sees his sealed palms in close-up (a short cut-in), and his casting speeds up.

[ ] New names in this file: the First Pair (composite), the Undercrack, the Pane gauge, Even-handed. Recommendation: keep them as working names. Settled: the Corran girl is Brin, Hollis's daughter, from Act 3 (not a new name, and no longer Seli), and Culet is already a Story Bible cut name, so the Culet cut is not new either (VEL-63).
[ ] 28. The naming lists. Story Bible § 7 gives Veil (Still Choir), Slip (Waymakers), Crown Ward and Culet Spike (Facets) as examples. The roadmap uses none of them: the Choir has Hush, Echo, Calm and Listen; the Waymakers Gale, Drift, Squall and Tailwind; the Facets Facet Seal, Bevel Lash, Prism Snare, Crown Surge, Table Mend, Girdle Gate and Pavilion Wake. Recommendation (new): swap the § 7 examples for roadmap spells, and keep Veil, Slip, Crown Ward and Culet Spike as spare names for later warp-born glyphs. Sources:

4.8: the Culet cut no longer an Idea-new name; notes Culet is a Story Bible cut name (section 2); the gem-term gloss stays (Idea) (Culet is in the Story Bible)
