The Velan Codex

Faction

The Waymakers

Motion: what moves keeps its course

One faction is the Waymakers, who guard motion (what moves keeps its course). They draw parallel, and Gale is their spell.

Elsewhere in the Codex

Each faction has exactly one drawing style. Light-side spells are mostly mirrored (at least in general shape; the Waymakers draw parallel); the other side's spells are mostly not mirrored, a clear visible divide between the two. Non-mirrored spells (e.g. circle on the left thumb, square on the right) are very hard to perfect: same pace, starting and ending together.

Evane
Mostly mirrored; the Waymakers draw parallel.
Facets (others call them the Shattered)
Mostly asymmetric: a different shape per thumb.

From Story Bible › The Two Sides

The first four come from section 3's examples. The Waymakers are the fifth, and Gale is theirs. Each faction owns exactly one drawing style.

(Idea) Rivalry: the Wardens think they lead; the Tenders think nothing matters more than life; the Keepers think everyone else is in a hurry. The other four call Waymaker casting barely Evane, so most quarrels end up there.
